Chairman & Chief Executiv​e Officer
Marc R. Viscogliosi

Mr. Viscogliosi is a founder of Paradigm Spine and has been its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Managers since August 2004. Prior to founding the company, Mr. Viscogliosi was a cofounder and secretary of the Board of Directors of Spine Solutions, Inc., which was acquired by Synthes-Stratec in 2003. In 1999, Mr. Viscogliosi cofounded Viscogliosi Brothers, LLC (“VB”), a leading merchant bank and venture capital firm focused on the musculoskeletal/orthopedics industry. Mr. Viscogliosi spent six years researching and banking musculoskeletal companies prior to cofounding VB.  He was employed for four years as a musculoskeletal/orthopedic research associate, primarily working with his brother, Anthony Viscogliosi.  Mr. Viscogliosi has served on two boards of directors of musculoskeletal companies.  Mr. Viscogliosi graduated from New York University in 1999 with a BA in Economics and Political Science. 

 

President  
Guntmar Eisen

Mr. Eisen has over 20 years of experience in the spine industry. He has been a key driver of the development and execution of Paradigm Spine’s global operational infrastructure.  Prior to joining the company, Mr. Eisen was the Vice President of Europe Spine Solutions, GmbH, which focused on commercialization of various spine products including the ProDisc Lumbar and Cervical Disc technologies. Prior to his role with Europe Spine Solutions, Mr. Eisen spent 10 years as Director Product Management of Spine, Trauma & Biomaterials at Aesculap AG & Co. KG in Germany. He earned a degree in Product Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule) in Furtwangen, Germany. 

 

 

Chief Financial Officer 

Steven Amelio

Mr. Amelio is a financial executive with more than 24 years of experience in the medical device industry. Over Mr. Amelio’s 20-plus years with United States Surgical Corporation; Tyco Healthcare Group, LP; and, ultimately, Covidien, PLC, he rose through the finance department in various roles and spent 10 years in Divisional Chief Financial Officer positions. With his broad knowledge of the medical device industry, Mr. Amelio has been involved in all aspects of acquisitions and divestitures and was instrumental in the purchase of technologies in the endo-mechanical, electro-surgery, orthopedic, bio-surgery, and other areas in addition to overseeing and managing global finance organizations. Most recently, Mr. Amelio was the Chief Financial Officer for DeVilbiss Healthcare, LLC, a private equity-owned respiratory company, where he helped prepare and separate the business to a standalone platform. Mr. Amelio has an MBA in Finance and a BBA in Accounting from Iona College in New York.

 

Vice President of Sales
Jeremy Laynor

Mr. Laynor brings more than 19 years of professional sales, marketing and leadership experience. He has been instrumental in the growth of Paradigm Spine’s U.S. commercial efforts since joining the organization in 2013. Jeremy began his healthcare sales industry career with Cardinal Health, where he specialized in the development of national sales efforts for new pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical technologies. He spent 6 years in both sales and leadership roles developing teams in the Southeast region of the U.S. Jeremy then joined Salient Surgical, where he was essential in launching an advanced energy product line focused on Orthopedics and Spine procedures, and served as Area Vice President leading up to the company being acquired by Medtronic in 2011. Jeremy is a graduate of Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania where he played point guard for the men’s basketball team.

 

Vice President of Business Development
David Brown

Mr. David Brown is a sales and marketing leader with over 20 years experience in the medical device industry. During 17 years at United States Surgical/Covidien Mr. Brown worked in various sales and marketing leadership roles culminating with six years as Vice President of Sales. As Vice President of Sales he led both the endo-mechanical and suture organizations during a period of significant organizational expansion and revenue growth. Mr. Brown has also served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Salient Surgical Technologies and Aureon Biosciences where he developed the go-to market strategies for new technology platforms for Orthopedic, Spine and Oncology specialties. Over the last five years at Paradigm Spine, Mr. Brown has served as Vice President of Sales but most recently as Vice President of Business Development, leading the development and execution go-to-market plan for coflex®, which has resulted in over 1,800 spine surgeons trained, and over 24,000 cases done in the U.S. since launch in 2012. Mr. Brown has a BS in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University.
